Short CV

I was born in Munich, Germany (29/09/1981). I moved with my family to Mytilene, Greece when I was 4 years of age.

There I completed my basic education. I finished the Primary, Junior High and High School. Graduated from 4th High School of Mytilene (year 1998-99) with a grade 18.5 (out of 20).

In parallel with school, I had had English and German lessons. I can speak a little bit of German (stopped just before the exam for the Elementarstuffe Deutschesprachdiplom); and fluent English (succeeded in both Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English and Michigan Proficiency Certificate for the English Language).

Along with the foreign languages, I also had computing lessons, since the 4th grade of Primary School. I took part in several programming competitions and I got the 3rd Prize in the Pan-Hellenic Programming Competition in 1999. I also worked as a Web-Developer for the Municipality of Mytilene, where I designed their website, which was awarded the 3rd Prize in the Pan-Hellenic Multimedia and Web Competition, 2000. Along those years I have become experienced with the use of a computer as well as with programming (in Pascal).

After graduation from High School, I applied to the University of Liverpool, England for the Electrical Engineering and Electronics course, in which I was accepted in the foundation year. For first year I registered in the Computer Science and Microelectronics course, to finally end up in my initial target: BSc Computer Science course, where I graduated with Honours in June 2003.

During university I expanded my computers knowledge to include Database Development (using MS Access) and Object Oriented Programming (Java).

I have had some work experience during summers 2002 and 2003, teaching at "Platonos" Computing School in Mytilene all ECDL & ECDL Advanced units.

After being awarded a BSc in Computer Science from the University of Liverpool, I started my research in the Computer Science Department of the same University, with the Pattern Recognition and Image Analysis Group (PRImA), leading to a PhD that I am -hopefully- going to be awarded in June 2008!

During my PhD studies, I have already been emplyed by the Department of Computer Science to help in demonstrating in the labs for undergraduate students, and by the Univerity of Liverpool to invigilate during the undergraduate and postgraduate examinations preiod.

In parallel to my studies in Liverpool, I am appointed as a Honorary Research Visitor in the School of Computing, Science and Engineering at the University of Salford.
